Rocks'n'Diamonds 3.3.0.0 released!

This version finally contains the new native Supaplex game engine to play all original Supaplex levels exactly as they played in the classic game. This new game engine is fully compatible with the original game, including all recorded demos as well as all tricks and bugs of the original game engine. It is based on the engine code of the game Megaplex, which itself is an exact clone of Supaplex, but the game engine in R’n’D is a bit more compatible than Megaplex regarding special levels that use dirty memory tricks that only worked in the original DOS version of Supaplex so far.

Most important changes since last release version 3.2.6.1:

  • added native Supaplex game engine
  • added support for native Supaplex levels in MPX level file format
  • added support for native Sokoban levels in XSB level file format
  • added saving read-only levels from editor into personal level set
  • added configurable key shortcuts for the tape recorder buttons
  • fixed potential crash bug in quickload and quicksave functionality
  • fixed some bugs with single step mode (and added it to native engines)

For details, see the ChangeLog file (also included in the package).

Special edition "R'n'D jue" version 3.2.6.1 released!

After the update of Rocks’n’Diamonds to version 3.2.6.1, “R’n’D jue” is now also updated to the same latest version of the game engine! More information and download links can be found here:

As the previous version (R’n’D jue 3.2.6.0) had the same crash bug as R’n’D 3.2.6.0, while the last stable version (R’n’D jue 3.2.5) had some major limitations and bugs, it is highly recommended to upgrade to the latest version to play this special version of R’n’D!

Emerald Mine Club level collection 2.1.0 released!

For all fans of the Emerald Mine Club level collection, there is an update available that adds the following 13 new EMC disks (and updates many of the existing disks):

  • Bond Mine 17.5 - Xmas Mine 2
  • Crystal Caverns 4 (No. 21)
  • Den Mine 13
  • Down Under Mine 20
  • Einstein Mine 23
  • Emerald Dash 6
  • Into Aladdin’s Caves 3
  • Into The Dusty Mines 2
  • Ruppelmine 7
  • Snel Mine 1 (Almathera)
  • Super Freak Mine Prof
  • Tough and Deadly Mine
  • Tutorial 1 NL

All in all, the collection now contains 50962 levels in 576 sets (with 43511 unique levels). With this update, the EMC collection seems to be complete now, containing all EMC disks that were ever made publicly available.

As an addition to the already existing graphical title screens of many EMC disks, text messages were added to many sets that were contained on the original EMC disks (displayed as title messages just as it looked like when booting those disks on the Amiga), which contain hints, credits or correction notes.

For best results, use the latest R’n’D version 3.2.6.1 for playing the EMC level collection!

The updated level collection package is available here or at the “Levels & Artwork” section!

Rocks'n'Diamonds 3.2.6.1 released!

This new version of R’n’D fixes the crash bug mentioned in the previous entry. In fact, there was no need to change R’n’D itself at all, but to use a patched version of the SDL library, which contains a crash bug in the current official version as of today (which is already fixed in the code repository, but hasn’t found its way into the current official version yet).

In addition to replacing the SDL library with a patched version in the R’n’D package for Windows, there was also an additional fix to extend backwards compatibility with existing levels, especially Zelda and Zelda II.

For details, see the ChangeLog file (also included in the package).

Critical bug in Rocks'n'Diamonds 3.2.6.0! Please downgrade to version 3.2.4!

Many people encountered a critical bug that apparently has crept into the current version 3.2.6.0 and that crashes the game. Unfortunately, there’s no time to find and fix that bug and release a new version at the moment. Therefore, to play without problems, please switch back to the last stable version 3.2.4 for now. A fixed version 3.2.6.1 will be provided as soon as possible. For “R’n’D jue”, please switch back to the last stable version 3.2.5. Please see the Download section for updated (downgraded) links!

Sorry for the inconvenience!
